half a peanut roll

Image

Hi , it’s me Vanilla Bean. Peanut is my fifth favorite flavor (most of the dogs I know love it.) However, it is often scarce to have as a treat here in my place…because the humans tend to keep it to themselves… Take for example the store-bought Peanut Roll(s)…

Since only two pieces are left in the container, I know that careful planning and timing in execution are essential to secure a portion… just look at that fat rolls… I’m very excited to lick it but I have to restrain myself and focus on working my charms to my overseer…you know — stay calm and look hungry-cute.

Eventually, she breaks a small portion of it and allows my nose to examine the stuff…

…then, I politely take the half of the Peanut Roll…and enjoy savoring the sweet and yummy treat. It’s crunchy on the outside and light on the inside.

Since I have only half of the roll, I’ll give it 1 out of 4 paws. How about you? What is your favorite form of a peanutty treat?

Monday Mischief: jellybelly’s rage

4/28/2012, Saturday 8:00 a.m. — Big mama reported that the little furball upstairs was howling, scratching and doing some acts of mischief for two hours… that the critter raged with all her might when she realized she missed an early morning road trip (the Saturday Dog Walks with the LDN canines)…

These are the inanimate victims: flip-flops, carton box, broom…and she managed to throw the drinking bowl downstairs (the water mess got cleaned up so no photo to show you)…

"ya left me...so i mounted it and willed it to follow you just like in the Harry Potter movies but it won't budge"- JellyBelly a.k.a Vanilla Bean

When you own a puppy, expect mischief from time to time…it’s natural. If your pet dog doesn’t display some mischievousness, you probably own a critter from another planet… -Twinkle

Sniff, walk and chats in between

Yalooo, Princess here on the keyboard.

April 28 — My Saturday started with a rush. The wind sez woooo-woooo as I was  movin’ swiftly across the countryside in semi-darkness. Nope, I didn’t ran away; my overseer put me in a backpack, mounted on a steel steed and vroommm for about less than half an hour. (I decided long ago that she’s ekksentrik… so I expected an interesting outcome of whatever she’s up to.)

When we got there (Agora Maranding-Kapatagan), the air was filled with doggy-scents. I poked out my head…and lo… I saw folks with pets of various sizes and shapes stretching, pacing and littering the pathway. It turned out that this was the first gathering of Saturday Dog Walks of the canine club in the province. Here’s some candid shots:

With all the walking going on, its also nice to stop and do a bit of grass-sniffing…

…then again not everyone enjoyed this walk – just look at that pooch on wheels…

Meet Toby, a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix who thought riding a vrom-vrom gets lotsa attention…

…he sez “why walk when ya cud ride; it’s cooler and makes me taller than the big dawgs” … hmm maybe he thought he could cheat on height so as to be taller than  this Great Dane who lived in my town but whom I’ve never met until now.

These two black Labradors donned so shiny coats. One was American and the other British; both liked the nose-nose greetings… Mr. Judd (the one with the white shirt) pointed out the similarities and differences between these two playful cousins…

Meanwhile, the Belgian Malinois Ricky left) and Supremo (right) preferred to bark their greetings at a distance…

After half an hour (6:30 a.m.), some humans and small pooches decided to rest from all this walking in circles…and waited for snacks and water…

As I watched all the actions around me, I realized why Vanilla Bean liked to attend this sort of gathering…too bad she missed this one…

Monday Mischief: floss the boredom

Image

Hi. It’s me, Vanilla Bean. Some humans thought that I looked really cute with what I wore last February 25… so they asked my overseer to make their pets that Reversible Aqua/Floral dog vest. While she’s on it, I waited patiently for half an hour.. then, boredom happened… (I always lie on the end of her craft table nearest to the window to signal my need for mental/physical activity…)

*yawn*...I'm not sleepy just bored...

After another five minutes, I yawned at her but she ignored me; she continued to play with her scissors… ahh… what’s a pup gotta do?

Think VB...think...how to be productive while waiting for snack-break...hmmm

Maybe I'll just floss while waiting...where's the tail-end of this thread?

ahh so you're done?... biscuit-break at last! my teeth are so ready for the nibbles...

LDN’s 2012 Robot-Dino Show

Image

Hi. It’s me, Vanilla Bean.

I think I’ve lost my persuasive mojo when EJ, Kenji and Twinkle went to the Dinosaurs Alive! show without me. An educational and fun event for the kiddies but  No pets allowed at the Mindanao Civic Center… that’s what they said… I even tried to sneak into her large bag but I got caught.  :-(

So, I waited anxiously for them to taste the donuts they’ve promised… and see the photos of the fun I’ve missed… Here were some of the robot-dinos:

after-show freebies for the kids: bottled water and hotdog

…and what is this? hmmm…  It’s either my humans were misinformed or this dog was very smart to evade the gatekeepers…

Pooch in Pink

Image

Hi. It’s me, Vanilla Bean. So, what do you think with my new hand-made vest? (Twinkle thought I need to wear something girly so people would immediately know my gender…and she picked Pink.) I didn’t mind whatever dress/vest/hair-clips color she put on me as long as I go out somewhere…

saying "hi" to the doggies

This Sunday afternoon, we showed up at the Vet’s for  my appointment… and I met new friends there… a terrier with mister-and-missus Dalmatian woofed at me… I wonder if they ever met a pooch in pink…hmnn… Also, I met a very cute puppy… opps I forgot his name…

this curious puppy keeps looking at my group...

While waiting for our turn, my humans got to chat at owner of the Belgian Malinois puppy; we met them last week at the Dog Care Seminar.

Kenji poses with the doggies

Kenji had fun visiting several crates around the premises of JMC Veterinary Clinic…

…and he didn’t forget to check on the rabbits, too…

Franco the Pitbull... i wonder if it's his personality or custom-made chain that gives him a tough-dawg look...

Then, Franco the Pitbull and his crew arrived.  He looked like Mr. Toughie with a red-nose…

Monday Mischief: puppy sensibility

Image

Hi. Its me, Vanilla Bean.

When my overseer told me to stay upstairs one windy day, I obeyed her (that’s what she does when she’s busy…) However, I was so shocked when I checked into her craft corner — fabrics, clothes, and whateveritsname were everywhere on the floor! Really… I got so concerned because I heard the Wind whispered mischief in the air…

It occurred to me…what if the Wind swooped up all these stuff out of the window… I would be accountable… So, I prepared for the worst case scenario and brought in my collection of beef-bones. I carefully put them on fabrics here and there… I was so occupied that I didn’t notice her at the door…

…and I explained what went on while she’s gone…
…and told her how the silly bear moved 2 meters away from its original place… yep, I tried to remove the balloon but it’s stuck to its white head…

Social Saturday with LDN canines

Image

Hi. It’s me, Vanilla Bean. I tried to hide from my overseer yesterday when she kept repeating the words “dog care” the whole day. I knew something’s up, when she made me a new doggie vest and attacked me with a comb and scissor for hours!

Anyway, I was glad that I obliged to that torture because we were invited to the gathering of LDN Canine Club this morning. The JMC Veterinary Clinic set up a short seminar to promote dog care awareness to the public. Everyone had fun sniffing and chatting  at Jojo Liwanag’s Tennis Court in Maranding Lanao del Norte.I was surprised that my snobbish neighbors Slurpee (male Terrier/Poodle) and Keanna (female Pomeranian/Shih-Tzu) showed up. Nooki, Serena and the super-senior (the pooches I met last December 2011) were there, too. Also, I met energetic Lance (Shih Tzu), gentle Hitler (Poodle-mix), and stylish Stephanie (Shih Tzu-mix)…

Oh yeah… my date to this gathering was Doggitz, a 2 year-old male Japanese Spitz. I could say he had fun sniffing with the small pooches. However, Liza (his owner) kept shushing him when he lunged and barked at the tall doggies: Rain, Renz, and Supremo…
Everyone brought home some freebies… and a framed “10 Dog Commandments”…
…and yep… I’ve got a smile on my face as we rode home-bound…

Monday Mischief: princess charcoal

Image

Hi. Keanna here reporting for the Monday Mischief. (This post would’ve been posted earlier if not for Cassie’s recent mild Mastitis.)

We had occasional rain-showers for the past week; so we’re glad when the sun decided to show up last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The sun shone brightly and gave us a temperature of 31°C… which means our humans had an opportunity excuse for  grooming us pooches. Big momma gave Princess a thorough bath, she scrubbed her until her coat was white as cotton… that was last Saturday…

Early Sunday morning, this greeted Twinkle…

Our overseer didn’t show any reaction at all (not a good sign!…); it seemed she barely notice some details because she was busy collecting our food bowls and preparing our breakfast… and Princess relaxed…(she thought she could successfully get away from a sound ear-bashing…)

However after breakfast, Twinkle saw a rare sight — me so clean and smell so nice while Cassie… well, she had soot on her limbs…

…then, Twinkle saw a movement in her peripheral vision… she turned her head toward this… a dirty pooch scratching like crazy… Still, she gave no reaction… (definitely not a very good sign!)

Later that morning…

…Princess was soooo busted!… Twinkle caught her sneaking near the source of soot  in the storage area…  I told her to stay away from that box of charcoal but she didn’t listen…

Snoopy's Dog BlogTwinkle threatened her another thorough bath… but the DogAngel helped the pooch and caused the rain clouds to drizzle… again…

Mischief Monday: chained

Image

Hi. It’s me, Vanilla Bean.

I’ve never set foot inside a beauty shop but I often imagine these scenes in my mind: A lady goes in there; an attendant puts a chain-leash on the lady’s neck; trim/shampoo/hair-massage/ rinse/towel-dry/brushing plus nice talk would commence; attendant removes the chain-leash after the lady pays; and the lady goes out of the beauty shop with a new hair cut. Then, she goes home and does this:

…yep, the one in the photo is my mischievous overseer… and she’s enjoying MY bath… (I like the shampoo and massage but I DON’T dare show it in my face as long as I haven’t figure out why a chain-leash is necessary in my grooming…)

I’m thinking of having a natural dog bath instead of this complicated routine… (Keanna recommends mud or sand… but how to pull it off without being detected… hmmn…)

Anyway, I’m just glad that my overseer doesn’t own a hair-dryer… and she lets me enjoy my sunbathing unleashed… This way, I could plan my next mischief in peace…Snoopy's Dog Blog
