Despite the tail of the cold front threatening to ruin our weekend, I still had fun because I assisted two human-pup “hook-ups”.
Several weeks ago, my human-family told some friends that the new puppy litter (15 cute critters) needs a forever home. When people began showing up at our gate this week, I was on constant alert night and day. No one gets through without my a-paw-val because the screening of prospected parents starts with me… As they say:
If your dog doesn’t like someone, you probably shouldn’t either.
yep… Twinkle made it clear from the start that she could not take care of the 15 fur-balls so they have to live with other families when they are good to go. Hence, the screening; not all people who say they are animal-lovers have the capacity to give proper care to cute pets.
Anyway, here’s my first client: Sweet Kid
This girl came with her parents at dusk; I sniffed her and knew that she came from a very far place (Rizal, Zamboanga, Western Mindanao) and that there are other pets in her home. The moment she saw the little ShihPoo’s, her excitement went up a notch. Eventually, Uggie’s cute moves caught her attention… and so was Waffles’ squeeky calls… For a moment she was undecided between Uggie and Waffles…
and in the end she chose Uggie because he gave her the look… ya know… the take-me-home look…
Next is Mama Madeline, the hu-mum of my dad-Butchok the ShihPoo… She chose the youngest and smallest gal – Lil Madie. (She would’ve liked Ben Stillah but dog-dad said grrrfff to the little mischief maker…) Here’s the sweet moments of Lil Madie and Mama-yen:

well… most humans couldn’t find a substitute word for “cute” so they just say “awww” in various tones… So, how about the human(s) next to you, when was the last time ya heard them say “awww”?
That’s all for now as I’m going to the blog hop…
double dose of cuteness

Just brace yourself before you scroll down…We don’t want you to bump your head against the monitor or soil it with wet licks or go into cuteness coma… so pets and humans , just behave yourselves…

Monday Mischief: pup-tegee
Image
Hi. It’s me, Vanilla Bean. I’m no mischievous pup today cuz I’m preoccupied. Aside from my guard detail, I’m also doing some part-time puppy-sitting to the first batch of squeeker-pups. So, let me introduce to ya my pup-tegees…

This is Ben Stillah aka Snowflake… and yep.. that’s him doing some climbing over the crate division. Ya see… the ability to pull yar weight using yar limbs is a necessary skill for
Ben is the pup#1 ‘cuz he got out first. And among the litter, he is the pup more like me… ya know… curious to explore the big wide world…
Ben and lil Madie have similar coat color. (pup#5 is a girl. She’s the last one out from mum-Princess) … in doubt, I always look at the nose; Ben has pink patches on his nose while lil Madie has a black nose…
…they are just 1 month old…but they are promising mischief makers…
When hungry…

When hungry, always cry for milk;
if yar a ShihPoo, do it politely.
When ya get yar milk-drink, lick slowly and deliberately;
spills are okay.
And most importantly,
DON’T
forget to pose while feeding…
‘cuz Twinkle will give ya refills if ya do all of the above.
Take it from me…
:-)

Thursday thoughts #2

My thoughts on: Life and Death with Mummyhood at the middle
God pours life into death and death into life without a drop being spilled. ~Author Unknown
When there is life, there is death; every creature has to deal or struggle with both daily. It’s a never-ending cycle and either occurs whether you expect it or not… that’s what I notice…
3 yields 15
Twenty-two days ago, I struggled for hours to bring out my new litter – all five pups.
Last early Sunday morning, a new litter arrived… Cassie had 5 pups in the dark corner of the anything-spare-thing room… I couldn’t stop myself from barking when I saw my overseer transferred the 5 newborns and her at the craft-area upstairs (hmmm….next birthing season, I’ll book that nook for myself…)
Still last Sunday, Twinkle found Keanna near the garden fence…with her own litter… They prepared a nook for her but she opt to dig, settle down, and bring out her litter in a garden setting…very old-fashioned I say… By mid-morning, my overseer transferred Keanna’s lot at a kitchen corner… Two days later, they decided to transfer her again to a crate at the corner of the garden (the one VB escaped from)… They noticed that Keanna had territorial issues; she grrr-ed at us pets and we couldn’t get inside the house…
But the sad part of the story was this… death…
My soul is full of whispered song;
My blindness is my sight;
The shadows that I feared so long
Are all alive with light.
~Alice Cary, Dying Hymn
It turned out that Keanna had six pups… big momma buried the lifeless-pup somewhere outside the fence…
