Ginanggang Festival 2012

Hi, it’s me Vanilla Bean.

May was a month of feista and fun here at the Banana Town (Tubod, Lanao del Norte). I really had fun doing some people-watching from this chair.

Some folks put strange structures in the middle of RCMS Street the day before the festival. Locals called those ganggangan, a grill for “Saba” bananas.

a view from the upper garden…ganggangans line at the middle of the street

May 13, 2012 — Mother’s Day/ Ginanggang Festival.

Since most of the participants of the event were moms, family and friends cheered on several teams as they made the tastiest Ginanggang (grilled banana brushed with margarine and sprinkled with sugar). Here were some candid moments seen in my street:

It was nice to see happy faces tasting grilled bananas for FREE!🙂
